WIP-itis… the struggle is real

I think it’s time to acknowledge I have a problem. A severe case of WIP-itis. That is, work-in-progress-itis.

I’m forever getting excited about new projects and then either I get distracted by another project, distracted by real life or I just lose interest. Judging by my Instagram feed, I’d say I’m not the only one too.

It’s time for me to start going through every WIP I’ve accumulated and deciding whether to finish them or not. I’ve been a bit obsessed with getting the house in order since reading Marie Kondo’s book*. So, if my unfinished sewing or knitting projects no longer “spark joy” it’s time for them to go!

A quick glance around has already unearthed a WIP (or 6!) I need to have a look at:

  • Mood scarf
  • Knitted shrug
  • Simplicity 2226 skirt
  • Two kid’s dresses
  • Girl’s top
  • Lady Skater dress in velvet
  • Tilly and the Buttons Marigold jumpsuit

Of course, this doesn’t take into account any projects I’ve been meaning to start, or all the fabric patiently waiting for me… I definitely have enough stuff to keep me going for 2017 without spending money on anything but haberdashery items.

I guess the point of this blog post is just to give myself a bit of a kick up the bum to start actually finishing things and not just starting them. This year I will try my hardest to beat my WIP-itis!
