#VintagePledge 2016

Do you sew with vintage patterns?

I admit that I never have, although I am lucky enough to have a rather large stash of them which were my Grandma’s. Some of them I even remember her sewing for me when I was a child. I wrote about them here and here over on my old blog, but never did get around to using any of them. At the moment they’re mostly in boxes over at my parents’ house as I have absolutely no room here for them all. I have got a couple at home, such as this skirt pattern which I love:

I’ve also got quite a few kids patterns. It’s been a long time (if you exclude that damn tepee) that I’ve sewn anything for my girls, so maybe I should break out a pattern or two for them.

As well as this stash of patterns, I also recently bought an older version of the Lutterloh System which I absolutely need to spend some time using! I’ve drafted out a bodice from it which I need to find and finish.

I Will Use My Vintage Patterns!

I decided this year I will finally sort through all these patterns, catalogue what I’ve got and even get around to sewing a couple. So I’m going to join in with #VintagePledge hosted by A Stitching Odyssey and Kestrel Makes to give me that kick up the bum to actually do something and not just forget all about it. Now, I know what I’m like, so expect me to forget all about this until, uh October maybe. Then I’ll spend a month procrastinating and then maybe have finished something by December! No, I really will try and get my act together on this and will choose a couple of patterns before I go fabric shopping on Goldhawk Road next week. I will. I promise. So, here’s my Vintage Pledge:

“During 2016, I, Victoria Maus, will sew at least two garments from the vintage patterns I inherited from my Grandma. I will also finish the dress I have started using the Lutterloh System and complete another garment as well.”

Who’s with me?! Let’s all sew our vintage patterns this year!

Like you I have a stash of patterns but haven’t used them, I even have the fabric put back for one so I’ve pledged to at least get that one made!
