My 2020 Reading List

Following on from my post about the books I read in 2019, I’ve been making a list of books I definitely want to read in 2020. Most of the books that have made it onto my 2020 reading list so far are ones that have been patiently waiting on the bookshelf for a while. A long while in some cases!

I’ve set myself a pretty big goal of reading 120 books in 2020, so I feel like I do need a bit of a list to stick to. I’ll also add in books from my book club and as I can’t walk past a bookshop without buying something, I’m sure there are plenty of books I’ll discover throughout the year.

Books I Already Have

The bulk of my 2020 reading list is going to be made up of books I already have. I’m terrible for buying books, either in print or eBooks, and then not getting around the reading them. Anyone else?! This year I’m going to make a real dent in those books, so here’s what I’m aiming to read.

  • The Casual Vacancy – J.K. Rowling I’m ashamed to admit I had this when it was released and I still haven’t read it!
  • The Blind Assassin – Margaret Atwood A charity shop purchase not too long ago
  • Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy – Helen Fielding Bought when it came out in paperback, never read
  • Origin – Dan Brown I bought this from a charity shop a couple of months ago
  • Swing Time – Zadie Smith Bought a year ago!
  • How Not To Die – Michael Greger I think I bought this about two years ago…
  • The Princess Diarist – Carrie Fisher Bought just after Carrie Fisher passed away, not sure why I still haven’t read this one
  • The Wildflowers – Harriet Evans Borrowed from a friend after I loved The Garden of Lost and Found
  • The President Is Missing – James Patterson & Bill Clinton Borrowed from the same friend!
  • What Happened – Hillary Rodham Clinton Another charity shop find last year

That’s just the actual physical “real” books I have. As far as eBooks on my Kindle go, I think any I haven’t read have been Kindle First Reads that I’ve gotten for free. Or they might be from my KindleUnlimited subscription. These are the ones I’m definitely going to read…

Books I Want To Buy

You can never have too many books. At least this is where Marie Kondo and I would have to agree to disagree. So even though I have a lot of books I already own on my 2020 reading list, there are definitely still some books I want to buy this year!

I apologise that this is possibly the most self-indulgent blog post I’ve written. I guess that really I’m writing it more for myself than anyone else to remind me of my intentions for the year!
