Mrs Maus Reads: What I Read in July & August 2020

Wow, have I dropped the ball on blogging. Turns out that navigating your way through a pandemic, planning home education for September and beyond and generally being present for your children takes up a lot of time. Who knew, huh?! So in today’s post I’m going to run through everything I read in both July and August. If you missed what I read back in June, you can find those books here.

I’ve managed to read 18 books, most of them in August. You’ll notice that as well as reading some of my usual crime books, I’ve been doing a bit of reading on home education. It was the same last August too, I like to feel back in the right frame of mind for September.

July & August’s Favourite Book

Without a doubt it’s got to be The Other End of the Line by Andrea Camilleri. This is the 24th book in the Inspector Montalbano series and I cannot rate them highly enough. The writing is fantastic and I love how all of the characters have developed over the years. Despite the sometime dark subject matter, these books always retain a sense of humour and the author is adept at expressing his opinion on current affairs.

If you haven’t read any of these books, please do go back to the first one (The Shape of the Water) and read them in order. It’s well worth the time. I’m so obsessed with these that I’m re-watching the series on BBC iPlayer again!
