My goodness, 2019 has been a crazy busy year for us! Whilst I’m not sure I’d want to repeat all of it, there have been some moments that will be treasured forever.
Towards the end of 2018, our landlords announced out of the blue that they were selling our house. We’d been living there for 7 years at this point. Early on in 2019 they reneged on their promise to wait until after our wedding. We went into a massive panic! A fair amount of of our wedding budget went on moving costs, storage, outrageous rental deposits… I don’t know how we got through it.
We did though and we absolutely love our new house. It’s amazing how life changing the move has been for us all; we’re a lot happier. We feel very lucky that the house is a lot bigger (but then, so is the rent!) and we have a wonderful garden which the girls love.
This was the highlight of year! Maybe not the preparation and the cost, but the day itself was perfect. We had a Star Wars theme on May 4th and had so much fun. I was walked down the aisle by Darth Vader and flanked by Stormtroopers.
Eleanor and Phoebe were the best bridesmaids, dressed as R2-D2 and BB-8. We even had a completely vegan day and had an overwhelming number of compliments about the food! Of course, I still haven’t finished writing the blog posts about it that I planned to, but I did start!
This was the major curve ball that 2019 threw at us. Our daughters, especially our eldest, were becoming increasingly unhappy at school. The school themselves were next to useless so, to cut a long story short we started our home education journey in September. With a blog too, to keep track of everything we’re up to.
This has been massively life changing for all of us and we are so much happier. I know that not everyone would consider this the right path, but for us it is and we’re all really enjoying the adventure.
Other Stuff in 2019
What else has happened this year? We attended the wedding of one of my best friends; welcomed another best friend’s new baby into the world; visited the Eden Project; went to Devon; had our first trip to Center Parcs; I read 100 books; I joined a netball team (and then decided to quit!); we had our third vegan Christmas; I started a YouTube channel… I’m sure there’s more but I just can’t think!
So that was 2019 for us… how has your year been?
