A Cross Stitched Label

Hello! Just a super quick post today; I'm off into Birmingham in a bit to meet up with a friend. It's been a fairly good week this week, bar a hospital appointment for one of my daughters. Eleanor was so pleased to have won best costume in her class for World Book Day; I won't lie, I was pretty excited too!

If you've seen the photo of the jacket I made last week, you might have noticed that I added a little label to it which was quite cool.

DMC Cross Stitch Kits

When I went to Stitches, DMC were doing a little demo of some of their new products during our Blogger's Breakfast and the products that caught my eye the most were the "Custom By Me" cross stitch kits. Each kit comes with a pre-printed soluable sheet as well as the needle and thread too. You then stick your design onto whatever you'd like to cross stitch onto (DMC also have a range of bags you can buy to customise) and off you go. I had a go with a little kit, cross-stitching my initial onto plain black fabric. It took me literally five minutes!

Once you've finished your stitching, you immerse the design in warm water, give it a gentle rub and voila! The sheet dissolves, leaving behind your lovely stitched design.

I wasn't sure what to do with the finished letter, until I'd completed my jacket and decided it would make the perfect little label inside. Now everyone will know it's mine!

DMC also gave me one of the sets of larger designs which is available. Mine is the butterflies set which doesn't particularly appeal to me personally (although I like the swallows), but my girls were quite keen. I'm planning on using a butterfly each on some jersey dresses I'm going to sew this coming week for them.

Disclaimer: DMC provided these Custom By Me kits as part of a goody bag at CHSI Stitches 2016. We were not asked to write about them or promote them; I have chosen to share mine because I enjoyed it.
